Pictures of the Surface of the Earth
2001 Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin, Germany
2002 Guggenheim, Bilbao, Spain
Pictures of the Surface of the Earth was a retrospective of Wim Wenders’ photography. Edited images from over 30 years of work, most of which had never been exhibited let alone printed. Narrowed work to a selection of 100 images, at which point the curator Heiner Bastian stepped in to edit the remaining 50 images. The show was successful and has traveled ever since the opening at the Guggenheim.
