Picture from the Surface of the Earth

Wim Wenders’ photography spans decades, continents, and more than a few deserted highways. This retrospective gathered his panoramic stills, often taken between film shoots, and offered a quieter lens on landscapes from Havana to the Outback. Most had never been printed before. Narrowed down from hundreds of images, the final selection focused on places stripped of people but full of presence. Spaces where history, loss, and light linger just long enough to be caught. First shown in Berlin and Bilbao, the exhibition has since kept traveling, much like its maker.
